The early reports out of Georgia Tech's spring practices say that the Yellow Jackets have some big time fumbling problems.
Well, Georgia Tech's got NOTHING on Florida in the butterfingers department.
According to the Gainesville Sun, Florida's 2006 BCS National Championship Trophy "was nudged off a table in the temporary coaches' offices Friday and broken." I am assuming that means the offices are temporary, and not the coaches. Of course, if they figure out which bonehead broke the trophy, I'm thinking that individual's status with the Gators might become quite temporary, indeed. If Urban will cuss his own players from the sidelines for fumbling a leather football, what sort of tongue-lashing comes from destroying his crowning achievement?
ANYBODY GOT SOME SUPER GLUE?
GAINESVILLE SUN
Now, apparently, Florida had a replica of the trophy, and the Sun article isn't clear which was broken, the one the Gators were awarded on the Fiesta Bowl field or the copy they purchased later. And, apparently, Florida's getting the ball rolling to replace the broken trophy.
Who cares? If there's a more deliciously bad omen for Florida's season than this, I don't know what it is.
Flash forward to Sunday, November 2nd: Tim Tebow limps into Florida's football offices, following a double-digit to defeat at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs. The Gators' promising season lies in ruins after losses to LSU and now UGA. As he makes his was over to the couch, Tebow impales his good foot on a shard of crystal, the closest he'll come to a championship trophy this year.
