Apparently, the new Yankee Stadium is cursed.

I've got no love for the New York Yankees. In fact, in the American League, I've always kinda rooted for the Mariners and the Red Sox... that is, until the Red Sox won a pair of titles and the fans became insufferable. Still, I hate to see the Yankees leave the original Yankee Stadium. That's why I was very happy to read today on ESPN.com that the brand new Yankee Stadium has already been cursed.

FUNNY, DOESN'T LOOK LIKE AN INDIAN BURIAL MOUND...AP Photo

Apparently, a worker helping to build the new Yankee Stadium (which will undoubtedly someday be known as Merrill Lynch Yankee Stadium presented by Tostitos) also happens to be a Boston Red Sox fan. Now, I really have no idea how the Steinbrenners let that happen. Isn't there some sort of a background check or a lie detector test that you've got to take before you can get into the construction zone? It's almost like they WANTED some voodoo priest to come in and wallop the Yanks with a curse. Get on the ball, Yankees!!

Anyway, this worker supposedly buried a Red Sox shirt in the concrete under the visitors' club house in hopes that it will jinx the Yankees somehow. The article fails to mention if the shirt was being worn by Jimmy Hoffa at the time.

Now, I don't know much about curses. I tried to get into "Pagan Studies" during drop/add in college, but I had to settle for "The History of Rock and Roll" (not nearly as cool as it sounds). So, I don't know the best way to apply a curse to a baseball team's new billion-dollar stadium. That said, I've got to think that the better way to go about it would be to bury the shirt under the HOME clubhouse. It seems to me that the BoSox curse is only going to affect the Blue Jays or Orioles, or whoever else is visiting the House That Jeter Built.

For their part, the Yankees are denying that the burial even happened. But, what the heck are they supposed to say? "Yup, we didn't screen our employees, and now fans probably don't need to bother coming by the ballpark for the next 86 years"?!

Yankee fans, better go out and pick up some Mets gear, just in case.

I couldn't even get into "History of Rock N Roll" during drop-add!! Lol. Sounds like I didn't miss much. Whew.

I can't stand the Yankees either. I think the organization rips their fans off, too. Did you hear about their opening day?

Thanks for sharing this. I love reading your blogs.
